NYC has many nick names such as Big Apple, The city that never sleeps or The City of Dreams. The Windy City is how people call Chicago, The Fragrant City is a name for Hong Kong.

Experts believe there are 7 Million pigeons in NYC – almost one for every resident. Kind of like a pet for each New Yorker.

The NBA is the National Basketball League – the dream of many who play the sport. NFL is the National Football League and USHJA the Organization for horseback riders. Maybe some streetballers dream big of being an equestrian.

The bagel is called the Knish’s cousin. Dumplings were brought by Chinese people and Mochi are famous in Japan.

Although there is the legend of the sewer alligators, nobody has ever seen one on the streets. Monkeys live in the NYC zoos, but coyotes roam the streets and parks of New York City.

Many people call graffiti vandalism, or damage of other peoples’ properties, and by now famous graffiti sprayers make a lot of money, however back in the 70s graffiti was a protest against inequality.

Native Americans from the Lenape tribe lived on the south end of Manhattan. The Inuit are Alaska’s native people, the Lakota have their homes in North and South Dakota.

Can you imagine a 1 foot oyster? Back in the days people must have eaten them with knife and fork.

Although there was trade between the Native people and the Europeans, and although the Dutch thought they acquired the land, in Native American beliefs one can’t own land, only borrow it from the next generation. Thus they weren’t able to sell it.
